CHAIRMAN\u2019S REPORT<\/span><\/strong>
<\/span>FOR THE YEAR 2018\/19<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHAIRMAN\u2019S REPORT 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have had another successful\nyear as a committee, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Field Of Remembrance. <\/strong>At the end of\nOctober, we attended the service and commencement of the annual Field of\nRemembrance, this is the sixth year that the Partnerschaft has been present. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remembrance Services.<\/strong> Both our remembrance\nservices were again well attended, our event in the afternoon conducted Father\nNick Barry was well attended a dry afternoon for once, the tea afterwards was\nheld at the Merton hotel, unfortunately despite Lola confirm all the\narrangements on the Friday before the event, the Hotels management failed to inform\nthe staff they were completely unaware of our visit, however once they realized\ntheir mistake   they rallied around to\naccommodate us, and have confirmed to Lola that this years they will make\nspecial arrangements as a way of sorry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

November Get together<\/strong>. At the end of\nNovember our annual get together at the town hall sadly this was poorly\nattended, but it was a successful event we had excellent entertainment, by the\ntwo primary schools singing carols, we had a raffle in a new format. Closing\nwith a concert from the usual suspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Family History Fayre. <\/strong> <\/strong>In January is year we\nattended for the second time the Family History Fayre, held at the Jersey\nLibrary, This event was a great success with interest show from the general\npublic with many interesting questions and comments, each year this event gets\nbetter. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

74th Liberation\nanniversary at the War Tunnels.<\/strong> <\/strong>This years Liberation memorial service and afternoon teas was again held\nat the War Tunnels. A special thanks to Deacon Ian for conducting the service,\nLola and Franclise for their reading and to the Jersey Youth Service for\nproviding readings, a thank you to Stuart and Sarah for organizing the flowers\nand the laying of roses. Unfortunately the tea was marred by the Caf\u00e9 providing\nTea, despite confirming our requirements, they did not provide table service\nand were reluctant to assist when they realized the error, however thanks to\nthe committee members who rallied around to to provide the teas coffees and\ncakes.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking to the year ahead.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2020 will be a special year, the 75th<\/sup>\nLiberation, Lola has been working very hard to arrange flights to Bad Wurzach\nin April, and we are working closely with our German colleagues with this\nproject, hopefully we will have enough numbers of guests to make the trip\nviable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the forthcoming months the committee will be\nworking to provide local events for those internees and families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a committee we acknowledge that the internees are\ngetting very frail and are unable to attend many events, to keep the\nPartnerschaft working successfully we have, in recent months been working\nclosely with Gisela, the chairman of the German team, our committee members\nwill have recently received an email from her, with some ideas how we can\ninvolve the next generation to participate in making the Partnerschaft a\nsuccess for many years to come. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Website,\nFacebook and Twitter:<\/strong>  Our website each year becomes more popular, we\nare being contacted regularly by interested parties researching family members\nfor were interned, and we can provide them with detailed information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A break down to the statistics.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors\nMay 2017-2018, 269 May 2018-2019, 924 and increase of 655 visitors<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pages\nvisited May 2017-2018, 839 May 2018-2019 4400, an increase of 3561<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Committee Farewells.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The committee will\nsay farewell to two committee members this year,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firstly Stuart, who\nduring his time with us  has provided\nmany suggestions and ideas which are now incorporated in the Partnerschaft\u2019s\ncalendar, he work tirelessly to provide excellent prizes for our raffles and\nnew ways to run the raffles, his initial idea to have a service at the war\ntunnels has become an extremely important part of our calendar, whilst he is stepping\ndown from the committee he will remain as a co-opted member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alan English, is\nextremely busy with other commitments and has been unable to attend as he\nwants, he will be stepping down from the committee, we thank him for all his\ninput.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
